Generosity. The Carolina Way.

24 Hour Challenge

Approximately 260 donors helped us #ShareTheLightOnTheHill by raising more than $47,000 in a single day during our 24-Hour Challenge. We are forever grateful. We had a BIG goal for a BIG reason — to help deserving African-American students acheive their dream of graduating from Carolina.

The Light on the Hill Society Scholarship was established over a decade ago to help support first-year African-American student enrollment at Carolina. Tax-deductible contributions have ranged from a few dollars to a landmark $350,000 gift from UNC alumnus and NFL star Julius Peppers ’02.

Administered by the Light on the Hill Society Board of Directors and the UNC General Alumni Association, to date, over 75 scholarships have been awarded, and we are aiming for more.
